Privacy and consent
Your contact details are for the alerts you choose
Scanning a QR code never subscribes you by itself. You review the station, channel and alert types, submit your contact, and confirm before alerts become active.
What is stored
The system stores a protected version of your WhatsApp number, email address or telephone number, the selected stations, message language, quiet hours, consent history, and message delivery status. The alert scope is fixed to observed and forecast Alarm/Flood warnings. Raw contact details are encrypted server-side and never included in public analytics.
Why it is used
Contact details are used only to confirm, deliver, manage and audit the river alerts selected by you. They are not sold and are not used for unrelated marketing.
Your controls
Every subscription has a private manage link. You can pause, change or unsubscribe. WhatsApp users can also reply STOP where supported. Unsubscribing stops new delivery while retaining the minimum consent and delivery evidence required for safety and abuse prevention.
Retention and access
Operational retention periods must be approved by MRC before production. Access is limited by database row policies and operator roles, and administrative actions are audited.
